Deacon Marvin J. Carr was born on August 4, 1921, to William Rufus and Viranda (Davis) Carr. He was the 7th child to this union. He lost his mother when he was 5 months old. His father requested to his sister Mrs. Virgie Childress, to assist him in rearing Marvin. He was raised in Louisville, & Ackerman Mississippi. He graduated from the Winston High School in Louisville, MS. He was baptized at the age of 12, at the St. Luke Baptist Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ. Deacon Marvin J. Carr was born on August 4, 1921, to William Rufus and Viranda (Davis) Carr. He was the 7th child to this union. He lost his mother when he was 5 months old. His father requested to his sister Mrs. Virgie Childress, to assist him in rearing Marvin. He was raised in Louisville, & Ackerman Mississippi. He graduated from the Winston High School in Louisville, MS. He was baptized at the age of 12, at the St. Luke Baptist Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ. He relocated to East St. Louis, IL in 1942. He found employment right away at various jobs. He was advised in 1955, to relocate to Denver, Co due to an health issue. His first wife, Ollie Lee, and his two daughters, Mary and Sandy, all moved to Denver, in February of 1955.

He joined United with the Zion Baptist Church in April of 1957, under the late Rev. Dr. , Wendell T. Liggins. He worked faithfully as a senior usher, until 1965.

He received a summons from the late Rev. Dr. Wendell T. Liggins to become a Deacon. He accepted, and was trained for one year, during his probationary period. He was ordained in May of 1966. He has served as the Treasurer Manager of the Zion Baptist Brotherhood Credit Union from 1966-1969. He also worked in the Finance Department as chairperson and financial secretary during the early 1960's and early 70's.

He has served with the Centennial Lodge #4, as a Mason. He was blessed to be a Mason for 64 years. He now is an Emeritus, P.M.

In 1982 he became a member of the lone star chapter #1, O.E.S. He served as a Past Patron. He was employed by the Public Service Company of Colorado from 1958 to 1984, until he retired. He worked in the Gas Distribution Department, Lipan Center. He was a supervisor and an accountant, for this company. He also was self-Employed in his home as an accountant, and Notary Public. His favorite Bible verses, Proverbs 3: 5 and 6, and Proverbs 22:6. He leaves to cherish his memories, Those who have preceded him. His parents, and siblings (6). First Wife, Ollie Lee, and daughter, Mary Agnes Carr, His second wife of twenty and a half years Deaconess, Tranny K. Carr, his daughter Sandy Renee Carr, Granddaughter, Renee Marie Carr and Great Granddaughter, Ollie Marie Carr, His step-children, Edward (Norma) Dr. Peter Bracken & Crystal Brennan, His Denver in laws, The Allan, Jackson, and Napue families. Nephew Ralph Carr, Memphis, TN. Niece, Rosie Lee Childress, Louisville, MS, An host of cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and many friends. In town, and out of town, God sons, Quintin Marant, Marzel Estes, 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great-grandchildren
